Archive 1 - May 2003 - A visit from the Black Eagle

I was feeding the chickens and ducks, when at least fifty guinea fowl with all their newly born babies arrived to join in the feast. I called Peter and the kids and thoroughly enjoyed watching these little babies feed. It was only after they had left, that I heard this terrible commotion. I ran towards the direction of this racket, and what I saw, was the Black Eagle trying to catch one of the baby guinea fowl. What I found so interesting was how all the adult guinea fowl joined together and fought against the Black Eagle to save their young. They gave him such a hard time that he eventually gave up and decided to leave. I admired their courage and realized, as I was walking away, feeling totally worthless, that they certainly did not need my help, they are quite capable of looking after themselves.
