Rooster and the Chicken I never thought Roosters had any maternal instincts, but this rooster has proved me wrong. I heard a chicken give a lost call in desperation to find his mom. I decided to go and see if I could be of any help. By the time I got to the little chick, I saw the rooster coming towards him from the other side of the garden. It was very interesting to see how concerned he was over this lost chick. His talking to the chick immediately calmed it down, and the little chick started to follow him. I watched this in amazement. He took this little chick from the bottom end of the garden to the top section of the garden. You could see how desperate he was to help this little chick. He never stopped talking to it and he kept on checking if it was still following him. After a long search he eventually found the mother. He did not leave until he was quite sure that this little chick was going to be OK. Then suddenly he remembered that he had left his hens somewhere in the garden. He shook and puffed his feathers and gave a loud crow and pranced off with a swing in his step in search of his "beauties". |
